Melanie Anderson is a Miami native who grew up in Pinecrest, FL. She attended Pinecrest Elementary, Palmetto Middle and Palmetto High School. In 2003, she graduated from high school and moved to Gainesville, FL to attend University of Florida for her undergraduate degree. She received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology while working as a veterinary technician at a small animal veterinary hospital, specializing in feline medicine. While in school, she traveled to Belize to work with exotic animals and livestock, assisting in conservation projects and helping with medical procedures at local sanctuaries.

In 2007, Dr. Anderson moved back to Miami to continue working with animals. She began working at Silver Bluff Animal Clinic as a veterinary assistant to Dr. Ted Sanchez. At that time, she also worked at Jungle Island in Miami Beach, as a veterinary technician, taking care of birds, primates, reptiles and many other exotic animals.

In 2009, Dr. Anderson moved back to Gainesville, FL to attend veterinary school at University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She was the Holistic Club president at the veterinary school for 2 years, serving as a liaison between students and veterinarians to provide educational presentations and labs on various topics of integrative medicine (acupuncture, laser therapy, physical therapy, chiropractic, herbal therapy). While in veterinary school, Dr. Anderson also received her certification in veterinary acupuncture at the Chi Institute in Reddick, FL.

Dr. Anderson currently lives in Coconut Grove, FL and enjoys biking, camping, traveling and cooking.
